TIL that my neighbor's simple password advice saved me from a scam

My neighbor Bob, who works in IT, told me last month to never reuse passwords across important sites like my bank and email. I thought he was being overly cautious, but then I got a fake email claiming to be from my credit card company. Because I used a unique password for that card, I realized the login page was wrong and didn't bite. Has anyone else had a tech tip from a non-expert turn out to be spot on?

Set up a password manager, it'll generate and store unique passwords for every site automatically.

Spit out my coffee when I read you use the same password for everything. @parker224 is right, a password manager is the way to go. I remember the nightmare of resetting my email after someone guessed my dog's name in like two tries. Even just starting with one for your important accounts is better than nothing. It's wild how many people still use "password123" or their birthday.
