Spent $150 on a "lifetime" VPN subscription last month - total scam lol
The service slowed my connection to a crawl and the fine print said "lifetime" meant 3 years, not my actual lifetime. Anyone else get burned by those flashy VPN ads promising the moon?

Got a buddy who fell for the same trap with a VPN called "SecureSurf" or something like that. Paid $130 for what they said was a lifetime plan and two weeks later his download speed dropped to dial-up levels. He tried to cancel and get a refund but the company ghosted him completely, no reply to emails or support tickets. Then he found the fine print buried in their terms that said "lifetime" was actually just 5 years from their launch date, which was already 2 years ago. He ended up having to dispute the charge with his bank to get his money back. It's wild how these companies hide the real details in tiny text you can barely read.

@michael_jones I've heard that too, but honestly a lot of those lifetime deals are just poorly run companies that can't keep up.
