Paid $30 for a credit score app and it gave me wrong info

I downloaded Credit Karma knockoff called ScoreUp last month and it said my score was 720. Applied for a card and got denied because FICO was actually 640. Has anyone else gotten burned by these third party apps?

That "ScoreUp" thing sounds exactly like the app my buddy Dave downloaded. He got all excited seeing his "good" score and went to refinance his truck, ended up getting a way higher rate than he expected.

Got a buddy who used one of those apps last year. He showed me his "excellent" score, then got denied for a simple credit card the next week.
