Overheard a conversation at the diner that flipped my thinking on credit checks

Always shrugged off those soft inquiries as no big deal. The cook here got denied a side gig because of one, so I'm way more careful now.

About soft checks not being a big deal, my friend thought that too. He applied for a new credit card and got denied because of several soft checks on his report. I mean, it really set him back and made him take them seriously.
