My credit union in Boise showed me a free tool that boosted my score 40 points

I was at a financial workshop at my local credit union last month, and the advisor there told me about Experian Boost. It lets you add your utility and phone payments to your credit report. I linked my Verizon bill, and my FICO score went from 680 to 720 in about a week. Has anyone else tried something like this with a different service?

Wait, isn't Experian Boost only for your Experian credit report? I used it too, but it only raised my score with Experian. My other scores from Equifax and TransUnion didn't change at all. It's good, but it's not a fix for every credit report.

You're right it's only for Experian, but that's the score a lot of lenders check first for things like credit cards. Getting that one report up can still open doors... it helped me qualify for a better card when my other scores were lagging behind.

Yeah that's actually a bigger pattern I've noticed with a lot of these credit building services. They all just focus on one report or one area and then people think they're set. @james_fisher81 your experience makes sense but I've seen people get burned thinking a boost on Experian means they're good everywhere. It's like cleaning one window in your house and saying the whole place is spotless. You still gotta check the other reports because lenders use different ones for different things like mortgages or auto loans. It's frustrating but that's just how the system works.
