I finally stopped ignoring my credit card's annual fee

It hit $95 again this month, so I called and asked for a product change to a no-fee card instead of just paying it. Anyone have experience with how that product change hits your average account age?

Good move on the product change. My friend did that and it kept the original account open date, so his average age didn't take a hit. He just lost the fancy travel points, which he never used anyway.

Yeah that's the smart play. It's like we're all paying for fancy features we don't actually want just because they come bundled with the basic thing we need. I see it with phone plans and streaming services too, you get stuck in a tier for one show and ignore the rest. His friend just cut the fat.

Cut the fat" is EVERYWHERE now, from subscriptions to grocery bills.
