Dispute letters are overrated - I fixed my credit by actually calling the credit bureau

I spent 3 months drafting these perfect dispute letters for a $2,500 medical collection on my report from 2022. Nothing happened, they kept verifying it. So last Tuesday I just called Equifax directly from my kitchen table and calmly explained the bill was paid through insurance. The rep put me on hold for 8 minutes, came back, and said it was removed right there. Has anyone else had better luck on the phone than with those certified mail letters?

Right, because nothing says "official" like a cold call from the kitchen.

I mean sure, but the bigger issue is that these calls are getting way too good at sounding real. My dad almost fell for one last week because they had his full name, address, and even knew his bank. They're not just calling from the kitchen anymore. They're pulling data from leaks that are years old and making themselves sound completely legit. It's scary how much they can get their hands on just from a few seconds of conversation.
