Co-signed for a relative's car? Check your report now.
I did this years ago and just found out their missed payments are on my record. It's dragging down my score and I had no idea.

Consider how this might strain your relationship with that relative. Your trust is getting dinged along with your credit.

Oh fantastic, a free credit score crash course I never signed up for. Nothing says family bonding like their financial mistakes becoming your permanent record. I guess "co-sign" is just a fancy word for "legally agree to be surprised years later." Hope the car was at least fun to drive.

Yeah, "permanent record" is the perfect way to put it. It's wild how a single choice to help someone can just stick to your finances forever. That surprise years later is the worst part, like a bill for a favor you forgot about. Really sorry you're dealing with this mess.
