TIL you can trick your brain into writing by just changing the font
I was stuck on a short story for like 3 months... couldn't get past the first page. Then I switched the font to Comic Sans on a whim and suddenly wrote 2000 words in one sitting. The ugliness of it made me stop trying to be perfect and just get the words down. Has anyone else tried weird tricks like this to get past a block?

What's the deal with Comic Sans bringing out the words? It reminds me of my buddy Dave who got stuck on a resume for weeks. He switched the font to Papyrus just to mess with himself and ended up cranking out the whole thing in a night. @blair_lewis85, you're probably right about hating the font being the push. Dave said the same thing, like wanting to finish each sentence so he could stop looking at those squiggly letters.

Wait, Comic Sans of all fonts? That's wild, I hate that font so much it makes me angry just looking at it. I guess hating it so much would make me want to finish a sentence just so I could stop staring at it. Maybe there's something to that whole "ugly equals productive" thing.
