The week I tried to write a happy story and my brain gave me a haunted lighthouse

I set a goal to write something light for once, but every prompt I picked turned dark. On Wednesday, I tried 'a perfect summer day' and ended up with a 3 page draft about a kid finding a body in a lake. Has anyone else's writing ever just refused to go where you wanted it to?

Happens all the time. Feels like trying to push a rope uphill when your brain just wants to go the dark, interesting way.
