Had a deep conversation with my uncle Ray about writing prompts last weekend

He said my prompts were too safe and that the best stories come from asking 'what if this went wrong' instead of 'what if this worked out', and it totally shifted how I see character conflict now. Anyone else have a family member drop a truth bomb about your creative process that you couldn't shake?

David saying "it's not rocket science" is kind of the same energy my uncle had. He told me I was overthinking everything and just needed to write a character in a bad spot and see what happens. I tried it with a prompt about a musician losing their hearing and it turned into this messy, raw story that actually felt real. Sometimes the simplest advice is the hardest to follow because we get all in our heads about it. That uncle wisdom can stick with you for years once it clicks.
