I'm trying to write a fiction piece focused on volunteers cleaning beaches. It's hard to make their daily work feel exciting and meaningful. What writing prompts help highlight small wins in environmental acts?

Man, those videos get me every time. Last summer our local group pulled like 200 pounds of trash from the riverbank, mostly plastic bottles and those nasty plastic bags stuck in the trees. It was gross work but when we stood back at the end, seeing just mud and rocks again, everyone just started clapping and laughing. That feeling is so real, like you actually fixed a little piece of the world.
