Choosing between a 500-word daily goal or a 3-prompt challenge for a month

I decided to try a writing challenge last month, but I couldn't pick my focus. The choice was either writing 500 words every single day, or completing three different creative prompts from my notebook each week. I went with the prompts, because just hitting a word count felt like busywork. It pushed me to write a sci-fi dialogue, describe a haunted library, and outline a heist in a fantasy city, all in 30 days. Honestly, finishing that last prompt felt better than I thought it would. Has anyone else done a prompt-based challenge and found it helped them try new genres?

Ever get stuck on a prompt and just scrap it?

Yeah, the "stuck on a prompt" thing is real. I tried a horror one about a creepy doll and just had nothing. Switched it to the doll being a bad cook instead, wrote a weird comedy scene, and it worked. Sometimes you gotta bend the prompt to make it click.
