TIL a seagull can shut down a tower crane for a whole afternoon
Had a job in Seaside Heights where a seagull decided to build a nest right in the main hoist sheave assembly. We spotted it at 7 AM and couldn't touch it due to wildlife rules, so we had to wait for a state guy to come out and move it. That bird cost us 6 hours of prime lifting time. Anyone else ever get delayed by something totally ridiculous like that?

Nature's red tape is the worst kind.

Yeah, "nature's red tape" is a perfect way to put it. Trying to get a simple permit for a backyard project turns into a whole thing with surveys and waiting. It feels like the rules are there just to stop you from doing anything. Makes you want to just give up sometimes.
