I swore by my old method for setting up on soft ground for years

A foreman in Miami watched me work and asked why I wasn't using the full 2-inch thick steel plates under my outriggers. He said the 1-inch ones I always used were flexing, and that explained my slight but constant level corrections. Anyone else have a simple ground setup tip that made a big difference?

Honestly, that plate thickness thing is huge. We started using a layer of crushed stone under the plates on really bad sites, just a few inches deep. It spreads the load way better and stops the whole setup from slowly sinking in.

Doubt that flex is causing your "constant" corrections, @davis.diana.
