I finally got my first tower crane climb done without any drama
Was up at the Foxworth site last Tuesday doing a climb on a Liebherr 180. Been in the seat for about 8 months now and this was my first time doing the full climb sequence solo. My mentor Mike just stood back and let me work through it. Took a bit over 2 hours but the pins slid in smooth and the guys on the ground said it was the quietest climb they've seen. Has anyone else had that moment where everything just clicks and you stop second guessing yourself?

2 hours seems like a lot for a climb.

Honestly I feel like people forget how much time you waste faffing about at the start getting your stuff sorted and probably making a wrong turn or two. Like I always budget an extra half hour just for the whole "where's the start of the trail?" dance and then another 20 minutes sitting on a rock catching my breath because I'm not as fit as I pretend to be. So yeah two hours with all that built in sounds pretty normal to me, especially if there's any scrambling or loose rocks involved. Plus if it's a popular spot you're probably waiting for other people to clear out before you can take a break anyway.
