Doubted that laser level until it saved me 3 hours on a 20 ton pick yesterday
I always thought my old bubble level was fine, but after a buddy let me borrow his green beam laser to set the mat exactly under a steel beam in 14 minutes instead of fighting with string lines, I ordered one of my own that night.

Doubt is just a step before learning something new. Watched a neighbor spend all weekend leveling a paver patio with a 2 foot level and crushed gravel. Took him three days. My other neighbor rented a rotary laser for sixty bucks and did the same job in one afternoon. Same with digital torque wrenches or even automatic transmissions. People stick with old methods because they work okay, but sometimes one tool change cuts your time in half. It makes you wonder how many other things we're doing the hard way just because nobody showed us the better way yet.

It's funny you mention that because I think the real time saver isn't the tool itself, it's knowing when to ask for help. That first neighbor probably would've finished faster if he just called the other guy and asked what he was doing. Pride costs more than a rental sometimes.
