Blew a hydraulic line on a Liebherr LTM 1050 yesterday
I was lifting a 12 ton HVAC unit onto a roof in downtown Austin around 2pm. Everything was going smooth until I heard this loud hiss and saw fluid spraying everywhere. Shut it down fast but the damage was done, had to get a mobile mechanic out there who charged me $600 just to show up. Turns out the line was rubbing against a bracket that must have shifted during shipping. Anyone else had a random hose failure like that or was I just unlucky?

$600 just to show up? That's brutal, hope they at least fixed it on the spot for that kind of cash.

Doesn't it feel like everything's turning into a "you just gotta pay to exist" kind of deal? I had a plumber come out last month just to tell me my pipes were old and that would be $150 for the visit alone. They didn't actually fix anything, just gave me a quote for the real work. It's like they're charging for the privilege of even looking at their business card. And then the actual repair cost as much as a small vacation. Makes you wonder if the whole system is designed to squeeze us dry one fee at a time.
