Vent: My swim goggles broke RIGHT as I jumped into the lake for my first open water test
Was doing my first open water swim at Lake Lanier last Sunday after 8 weeks of pool training. I took a big breath and dove in, and the strap SNAPPED clean off the left goggle. Water flooded in instantly, I panicked, and swallowed half the lake before flailing back to the dock. My buddy laughed so hard he almost fell off his kayak. Had to borrow his backup goggles that fogged up after 2 minutes and I basically doggy paddled 400 meters. Anyone else have gear fail at the worst moment during a practice swim?

Oh man that's brutal, at least you didn't lose the goggles entirely like I did when mine snapped and sank straight to the bottom of the quarry. Now I tape my straps to the frame before every swim just to be safe.
