The couch coach who told me to run slower was right, and I hated it
My neighbor Dave, who did 14 Ironmans, watched me do my first 2 mile run last March and said my pace was garbage, that I needed to run so slow I could hold a conversation. I ignored him for 6 weeks, kept pushing every run, and ended up with a hip strain that put me on the bike for a month. Now I do his stupid 10 minute mile shuffle and my heart rate finally stays under 150, has anyone else fought this urge to go fast too early?
