The mall kiosk lady in St. Louis changed how I prep for fillers

I was walking through the Galleria last month and this kiosk lady DEMANDED I try her collagen mask. I told her I get filler injections every 6 months, and she said 'oh honey, you prep ALL wrong, you should be hydrating your skin for a WEEK before, not just the day before.' I never even thought about that, I would just show up and let the doctor do his thing. Now I'm drinking extra water and slathering on that basic hyaluronic serum 5 days ahead of my appointment. Has anyone else been told to prep differently, or is this kiosk lady just trying to sell me $80 face goop?
