Serious question, my derm in Phoenix talked me out of lip filler last month and I'm still weirdly grateful
Honestly I went in ready to drop $650 on lip filler and she just looked at my face for a second and asked what I was actually hoping to fix. I said my top lip disappears when I smile, and she told me filler would sit in the wrong spot and make my philtrum look heavy instead. Ngl it stung to hear, but she said come back in 6 months if I still want it and we'll reassess with photos. Has anyone else had a injector talk them OUT of something, and did you end up going back or just skipping it?
Did she explain why the filler would sit wrong? Because that part matters a lot. When you smile, the lip pulls up and back, so if the injector just pumps volume into the body of the lip, the top edge stays hidden and all you get is a puffy shelf under your nose. The fix for a disappearing top lip is usually more about where the lip meets the skin above it, not how much product goes in. So her turning you down was her saying she couldnt get the result you wanted with the tool you asked for. Most people wouldve taken the $650 and let you figure that out in the mirror three weeks later. Going back in 6 months with photos is smart too, because youll see if its actually a lip problem or just how your face moves when you smile.
