My aunt swore I'd regret getting my nose done at 19, and she was right for a reason I didn't see coming
My aunt Deb had a nose job back in 1988 in Cincinnati and she told me straight up, wait until you're at least 25 because your face is still changing. I was 19 and saved up $4,200 from waitressing and went to a surgeon in Columbus anyway. The surgery itself was fine, healing was fine, and for about a year I loved it. But by the time I hit 23 my whole face had filled out and that cute little button nose she gave me suddenly looked too small on my adult face. I went back at 27 for a revision and paid almost $7,000 that time because revisions are more expensive and harder. My aunt never said I told you so, she just hugged me and said she remembered crying in her bathroom for a week after hers because she didn't recognize herself either. The weird part is the first surgeon did good work, the timing was just off. Now I tell anyone under 22 to look at their mom's high school photos next to her photos at 30, it's wild how much your face moves. Has anyone else had a revision later on and felt like the second one finally fit who you actually turned out to be?
Disagree with the whole wait until 25 rule honestly. Tons of people get rhinoplasty at 19 or 20 and are totally happy forever, you just hear about the revision cases because happy people dont post about it. Your aunt's story is one person and yours is one person, that's not proof the timing rule works for everyone. Some faces barely change after 20, it depends on your bone structure and whether you gain weight, so telling every young person to wait is just as bad as telling them to rush in. If the first surgeon did good work like you said, then maybe the issue wasnt age at all, maybe your face was always gonna shift a little and any nose wouldve needed tweaking eventually. Most people I know who got it young never went back for a second one, so the "you'll regret it" thing feels like fear mongering to me.
