Why does nobody talk about how bad chalk lines are on wet concrete?
I always thought a chalk line was the gold standard for layout, but last week on a garage pour in Boise my lines washed out before I even got the forms set. The old timer on my crew laughed and handed me a soapstone marker instead, said he has not bought chalk in 15 years. Half of me thinks chalk still works fine if you snap it right, the other half is ready to toss every line in my truck. So which is it, chalk users or soapstone guys, what actually holds up for you?
