Saw a guy take a circular saw to a load bearing wall in Boise and the whole room went quiet
I was doing a punch list walk in a flip off Vista Ave in Boise back in April and the GC's nephew was cutting out a wall so the kitchen would feel more open. Nobody checked the plans, and the ceiling joists above started sagging within about ten seconds of the studs coming out. I hollered at him to stop and we got a jack post under it, but the drywall cracked clear across the hallway ceiling and that fix ran the owner $2,400. Now I keep a cheap stud finder and the stamped plans in my truck and I check any wall before someone touches it. Has anyone else had a helper go rogue like that, and how do you lock it down without making it awkward?
