Saw a crew in Lansing bracing a wall with nothing but a 2x4 and a ratchet strap
Was driving past a reno on Michigan Ave last Tuesday and stopped to watch these guys. They had a whole load-bearing wall held up by one 2x4 wedged against the ground and a cheap ratchet strap to the joist. I asked the guy if that was gonna hold and he just shrugged and said it worked yesterday. I've pulled straps tight plenty of times but never trusted one with that much weight over my head. Anyone seen a setup like that actually hold, or was I right to keep driving?
