Rant: found out the average framing crew lead is only 44, and it got me thinking about my old boss Ray
I was poking around a labor stats report a buddy sent me from a trades site and it said the typical lead carpenter or framing lead is right around 44 years old now. Back when I started in the 90s, the guy running our crew in Tulsa was 58 and everybody figured you needed 30 years in before you could call the shots. Ray had a coffee can full of bent 16 penny nails he'd pull out of old tear-downs, and he'd make us guess what job each one came from before we got to touch a nail gun. I just turned 41 and I'm still the young guy on our crew, so who's actually moving up in 3 years? Curious if the leads on your jobs are getting younger too or if this stat is just noise.
