An electrician in Boise told me my tape job was lazy, he was right
Back when I first started doing low voltage runs, I used to wrap my splices with whatever tape was close. Had a job in Boise, maybe 4 years ago, and the inspector pulled one of my joints apart on a commercial build. He said, "Son, that tape is just holding your mistakes together." I switched to using heat shrink on every outdoor connection and started stripping wires with the right tool instead of my knife. Never had a call back on a splice since. Anyone else get a talking to that stuck with them?
