Walked past a house I painted last spring and could not believe the difference

I painted a whole living room for a client back in April, deep navy blue with white trim. Drove by yesterday and saw the siding had peeled off on one whole side, showing bare plywood underneath. How does a painter mess up so bad that the house literally starts falling apart in 8 months?

Went back to a job I did last month and found out they painted right over black mold.

...and they probably bragged about how good it looks too, not even mentioning the mold. I've had that happen before, walked in and knew right away I'd be back doing the whole thing over for free when it starts bubbling. Guess it's just part of the job, finding out people will patch over anything to get paid.
