Vent: the guy who quoted my fence in Nashville never put the deposit terms in writing, and now I know why that matters
I got three bids for a 90 foot privacy fence and the cheapest one at $4,200 wanted half up front, but he only said it over the phone, nothing on the estimate sheet. When I asked him to email me the payment schedule and the cancel window, he got weird and said his word was good enough, so I looked him up on the state board site and found two unclaimed judgments. How do you all handle a contractor who refuses to put deposit terms in writing, do you just walk or is there a way to protect yourself?
