Unpopular opinion: the 1 star review that called me out was right and I owe them $80
A lady in Mount Vernon ripped me apart in a review for charging her $240 to swap a kitchen faucet, then leaving drywall dust all over her counters. I was mad for a week until I thought about it and she was right, I rushed that job to get to a bigger one. Now I take a wet rag and wipe down every surface before I pack up, even if it costs me 10 extra minutes. I also dropped my faucet price to $200 flat because $240 was straight up gouging. Did a kitchen in Yonkers a few weeks back and the lady tipped me $60 just for how clean I left it. Any other contractors out there actually take the bad reviews and fix something, or do you just argue in the replies?
I read a thread on a contractor forum where a guy said he prints out every 1 star review and tapes them inside his truck. Said it kept him humble and he stopped losing repeat customers. That stuck with me because arguing in the replies does nothing except make the next person reading it trust you less, lol. Fixing the thing they complained about is the only reply that actually counts.
