I was dead wrong about Angi leads after a plumber in Phoenix showed me his call log
I have been trashing lead gen sites for a long time, mostly because of a bad run with HomeAdvisor back in 2021 where I dropped $1,800 and got maybe two real jobs out of it. So when a plumber I know in Phoenix kept telling me Angi was different for him, I basically rolled my eyes. Then he pulled out his phone at lunch and scrolled through his call log from the past 60 days, and it was full of people asking about water heater replacements and slab leaks, actual jobs, not tire kickers. He said he books about 40 percent of the leads and tracks every single one in a spreadsheet by name and zip code. What got me was he said the trick is not to buy the shared leads at all, only the exclusive ones and only in three specific zip codes near Scottsdale. I had been buying the cheapest shared stuff and blaming the platform for my own bad buying. Now I am not saying Angi is great for everyone, but I called my rep and switched my settings around and got four real quotes out in the first week. Has anyone else had a platform turn around for them once they stopped buying the bottom tier leads? I want to hear if this is just luck or if I actually figured something out.
