Hired a painter in Seattle who quoted me $2,000 for the living room and then left after one coat with drips everywhere...
I paid him half upfront and now he won't pick up my calls, has anyone else gotten stuck with a contractor who just vanished mid-job?

he left after one coat with drips everywhere" - that right there tells me this guy probably didn't have a Seattle business license or bonding. Here's an angle nobody's brought up: check if his quote included a specific contract clause about "preparation and dry time between coats." I've seen painters cut corners by spraying one heavy coat to save time, then skipping the second because the first wasn't dry enough. The drips mean he was working too fast with a roller that was too loaded. If he took your $1,000 and ghosted, you might be dealing with a fly-by-night guy who bounces between cities when complaints pile up.

Bet you he listed a P.O. box address, not a physical one.
