Put a $2 tally sheet on the job trailer wall for change orders, cut my arguing in half
Every time a sub asked for extra work I wrote the date and dollar amount on the sheet before saying yes, and after 3 months we had $14,600 of stuff nobody had priced out. Now the sheet gets filled in before the work starts, not after. Anybody else track change orders with something low tech like this, or is there a better way?
Man, this is the same trick as writing your grocery list before you walk into the store instead of trying to remember it from the couch. The second it's on paper it stops being a vague favor and turns into a real number somebody has to deal with. We do the same thing with punch lists on a clipboard, and just the act of writing stuff down kills half the "oh I thought that was included" talks. Low tech wins because nobody argues with a pen mark they watched you make.
