Rant: The Big Pharma narrative on autism got my brother off the wrong path for 8 years
Back in 2012 at my brother's clinic appointment in Phoenix, I pushed back on the 'vaccines cause it' crowd and we finally got him into real speech therapy, but it took until 2020 for me to find a doctor who would admit the mercury claims were never peer-reviewed, so has anyone else had to fight family over a debunked theory just to get proper care?

yeah totally, my cousin went through almost the exact same thing. her mom was deep into the whole mercury thing and kept refusing the therapy that was actually covered by insurance because she thought it was a scam. we wasted years on vitamin shots and 'detox' stuff that did nothing. finally got her into a good developmental pediatrician in 2019 and he basically said the same thing, those studies were garbage and never held up. it's crazy how a family member can be so sure about something they read on a blog and ignore actual doctors. the worst part is my cousin lost so much time on speech and social skills work that she needed. i'm just glad you got your brother on the right track eventually, even if it took way too long.
