Hit 100k miles on my old truck and it changed what I think about car conspiracy theories

I bought a 2004 Ford Ranger back in 2016 with 80k miles on it. I used to believe the whole thing about car companies building engines to fail right after warranty, especially after my last car died at 120k. But I just rolled over 180,000 miles last week. The thing still runs fine, just basic oil changes and one alternator replacement. Has anyone else had a vehicle that just kept going and made you question that planned obsolescence stuff?

Buddy of mine bought a 2001 Tacoma back in 2007 and it had 110k on it. He treated it like a workhorse, hauling gravel and firewood every weekend, and the thing finally gave up at 320k miles. The head gasket blew, but he still jokes that the frame'll outlive his grandkids.

Not really a conspiracy, some trucks just last forever.
