Cousin told me at a BBQ in Dallas that flat earth talk starts with trust, and I can't stop thinking about it
My cousin Dave came over last Saturday for a cookout and we got into it about some video he watched on YouTube about the moon landing. I expected him to start throwing out math and camera angles, but instead he talked for 20 minutes about how he doesn't trust NASA or the government at all. He said his dad got lied to about Agent Orange benefits back in the 80s, and that's where it started for him. That hit different for me, since I always argue facts with him and it never goes anywhere. Maybe the debate was never about the evidence, it was about who people feel has burned them before. Has anyone here changed how they talk to a family member about this stuff and actually gotten through?
