Am I the only one who used to think all road salt was the same?
Used to just grab the cheapest bag from the hardware store until last February when my driveway turned into an ice rink after a freeze. Now I pay $12 more for the magnesium stuff because it actually works below 15 degrees - has anyone else noticed the difference with the cheap vs. pricier options?

Did you notice the magnesium stuff leaving a weird white residue on your shoes or the concrete like I did? Wondering if that's normal or just my bad luck with the brand I grabbed.

The cheap stuff let me down hard last winter too... stood there watching my neighbor's car slide sideways into their mailbox because the regular salt just sat there doing nothing. Magnesium chloride is honestly a game changer for those really cold snaps, worth the extra few bucks just for the peace of mind.
