Vent: Swore by PC gaming for 20 years but a used PS4 changed my mind about exclusives

I built my first rig in 2003 and never looked back. Always figured console players were just settling for lower quality and framerates. Then my nephew left his old PS4 at my place for a month. I hooked it up on a whim and tried God of War 2018. I was skeptical but that opening fight with the stranger hooked me hard. The game ran fine at 30fps and I barely noticed after ten minutes. I ended up buying a used PS5 last week just for the sequels and the Last of Us games. Has anyone else here switched platforms just for one or two exclusives that surprised them?

Twenty years of PC gaming and you abandon it for one exclusive franchise? That seems extreme. PC gaming has its own exclusives that are just as good if not better. The total war series, baldur's gate 3, and every blizzard game ever made are all PC exclusives that console players miss out on. And let's not pretend 30fps is acceptable for anyone who cares about smooth gameplay. The moment you try to go back to a PC game running at 144fps, that god of war is going to look like a slideshow. You are basically paying a premium for a worse experience just because sony puts a fancy story in front of you. Console exclusives are just a marketing trick to sell you hardware that is already obsolete the day it releases. People who switch for one or two games are exactly what these companies want.
