My PS5 party turned into a PC repair session, 4 hours gone

Last Saturday I invited 3 buddies over for some Street Fighter 6 on my PS5, but my main controller started drifting mid-match on round 2. Tried the system update and even blew in the thumbstick like it was 2005, no luck. One friend brought his gaming laptop over 'just in case' and we spent the next 4 hours playing on his rig while my console sat there mocking me. Has anyone else had a console fail right when you're trying to prove a point to the PC crowd?
