My 144Hz monitor made me worse at aiming for a month
I finally switched from my old 60Hz screen to a 144Hz one last week, thinking it would instantly make me a better player. Problem was, my muscle memory was so used to the choppy refresh that I kept overshooting my flicks in games like Apex. I tried lowering the settings and adjusting my mouse DPI from 800 to 400 over three days to slow things down. It finally clicked after I matched the frame timing to what I practiced on my old setup. Has anyone else had to retrain their aim after a big hardware upgrade?

Oh man, I totally get this. I used to think faster refresh was just a placebo, that it wouldn't mess with your muscle memory at all. Then I got a 165Hz screen and spent two whole weeks whiffing shots in Valorant. My flicks were all over the place, way too fast for what my brain expected. Had to do the same thing you did, drop my sensitivity and just grind it out in the range until everything felt smooth again.

You ever have one of those moments where you realize you were dead wrong about something? I was the same way before I upgraded. I swore up and down that refresh rate was just marketing hype, that your brain would adjust to anything after a few days. Then I tried a friend's 240Hz setup and my whole world turned upside down. It's wild how much smoother aim feels once you get past that initial adjustment period though. What sensitivity did you end up settling on after the switch?
