I called 30fps unplayable for years, then I tried my cousin's setup in Dallas
I used to mock anyone who said 30fps was fine on consoles, straight up called it a slideshow in group chats. Then I stayed a week at my cousin's place in Dallas and he only had a base PS4 hooked to a 1080p TV, so I played through all of God of War on it. About 3 hours in my eyes stopped caring and I was just playing the game, no stutter complaints, nothing. Now I'm wondering how much of the 'PC master race' stuff I believed came from actually feeling it versus just reading forum posts. Did anyone else switch sides after actually sitting down with the other platform, or am I the only one who ate crow here?
Isnt this just how everything works though? People get super loud about stuff they read online instead of stuff they actually tried. I did the same thing with coffee, swore I could taste the difference between expensive beans and cheap ones, then my roommate did a blind test and I picked the gas station stuff twice. Same deal with phones, people fight over Android vs iPhone like it matters, then you use the other one for a week and it's just... a phone. The internet turns small stuff into team sports and we all pick a side before we even know what we're arguing about.
