Bought a "gaming ready" prebuilt PC for $1200 last summer and it had a 5 year old CPU inside

Opened it up to add more RAM and found an i5-8400 from 2018 with a generic cooler. Took me 3 weeks and 8 angry emails to get a partial refund. Has anyone else gotten burned by these shady prebuilt sellers?

Filed a chargeback with my bank after the seller ghosted me for a week. That got their attention real fast. Had all my screenshots of the listing claiming "latest gen processor" ready to go. The bank actually sided with me and I got a full refund instead of partial. Now I only buy from places with a real return policy and I always check the CPU model before clicking buy. It sucks you had to fight for that partial refund, but at least you got something back.

Whoa, is a chargeback really worth the hassle over a laptop CPU?
