Watched a garage floor crack at the Ford dealership in Omaha last Tuesday
I was hanging around waiting for my truck to get an oil change and saw their crew pouring a slab for the new service bay. They skipped the control joints and within 4 hours a hairline crack ran right through the middle of the fresh pour. Has anyone else had a customer refuse to pay for joints and then blame you when the concrete does what concrete does?

Did you ever go back and check on it after a few days? I used to think skipping control joints was no big deal, that concrete would find its own cracks anyway. But seeing that fresh slab split so fast changed my mind completely. Now I always insist on the joints even if the customer fights it. It saves so much headache down the road when they try to blame you for something that was their call.

Yikes, but what about expansion joints in the framing underneath though?
