You said you use caution tape and cones. That's a solid way to mark the area. I usually add a few lawn chairs or something bulky to block the path. Kids just don't see the tape sometimes. It's a constant battle to keep them away from fresh concrete. I feel your pain on this one.

Yeah, the lawn chairs are a good call. It's like they see the tape and think it's a finish line.
