Vent: Cold joint failure on a 30 yard pour last Tuesday
Poured a big driveway in Phoenix last week. Temps hit 95 and the truck was late. The cold joint showed up right in the middle and now the homeowner is pissed. Anyone have a trick for blending fresh pours on hot days?

July 5th right. Truck was 45 minutes late on my last 28 yarder. That Phoenix sun dries out the old concrete in like 10 minutes flat. Robert's right about wet burlap but you gotta soak it good or it just steams the joint.

Did you use any bonding agent on the joint before the fresh pour? Honest, that heat makes the old concrete suck the moisture right out. Ngl, a misting rig and wet burlap over the cold joint for an hour before the pour helps a ton.
