That one perfect pour day last spring still sticks with me
It was a Tuesday in April on a driveway job in Austin. Everything just lined up - the temp was 72, humidity was low, and the mix came in at exactly 5 inches of slump. We got the whole 30-yard slab placed, bull floated, and broom finished before lunch with zero cracking or chipping. Has anyone else had one of those days where you feel like you couldn't mess it up if you tried?

Oh wow, you placed 30 yards before lunch! That's wild, I can barely finish a small patio before noon without something going sideways.

Bet Dave still tells that story every time he sees a concrete truck roll by.

Wild, I can barely finish a small patio before noon without something going sideways." That's how my buddy Dave felt too. He's a good finisher but always has something go wrong. Last year he had one of those perfect days where everything just clicked. He was doing a driveway out in Round Rock and the truck showed up early, the slump was dead on, and the rebar was perfectly spaced. He told me he finished the whole pour by 1pm and sat in his truck eating lunch feeling like a champion. I swear he's been chasing that high ever since but it hasn't happened again.
