Seven years of dragging a jitterbug, then a finisher from Amarillo pointed at my float
I was finishing a 30 by 40 shop slab outside Wichita Falls and kept getting small tears in the cream no matter how slow I backed off. A finisher from Amarillo who was helping that day watched me for about ten minutes and asked why I was riding the float so flat. He showed me I had the blade set almost level, so it was plowing instead of floating, and told me to lift the leading edge a touch and let the weight of the machine do the work. I bumped the pitch maybe a quarter inch and the tears stopped on the very next pass. Seven years of fighting the same little ridges and it was a setup issue the whole time, not the mix and not the timing. Has anyone else found out a bad habit was hiding in plain sight on their finishing gear?
