Just realized my dad's old finishing trick actually works better than the fancy trowel I bought

I was talking to my dad last weekend after he saw me struggling with a slab in Waco. He told me to wet the concrete before doing the final pass, but I always thought that was some old school myth. Tried it on a small patio job yesterday and the surface came out way smoother with less effort. Has anyone else tried wetting before the last pass or am I just late to this?

A few people over on the gardening subreddit were talking about something similar last week. One person said their whole backyard looked way better after they tried it. It does sound like one of those things that seems too simple to work but actually makes a big difference. Glad to hear your buddy had good results with it too.
