I thought power trowels were for guys who could not finish by hand, boy was I wrong
I ran hand trowels on every slab for 11 years and swore I would never touch one of those machines. Then a 4,000 sq ft warehouse pour in Gary, Indiana last spring had me racing a hot wind, and the guy next to me told me to just try it for ten minutes. That burnished finish came out so tight and flat the GC asked what product we used, and I had to admit it was just the trowel and a little patience. Now I keep one on the truck, but I still think they get overused on small residential jobs, so when do you all switch over?
